I am passionate about creating healthy, therapeutic relationships that help others in initiating lasting, positive changes within themselves. My personal counseling style is open and incorporates the role of a facilitator of change and of a supportive educator. I am an active participant in this process and challenge my clients to gain alternative perspectives and healthy skills. I do not adopt the “medical model” where I am the expert and you are the patient. I choose to assist my clients in discovering their own strengths and inspire themselves to push forward with new skills and a more positive outlook on their unique situation and life goals.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. I received my undergraduate degree in Social Work at Barton College in Wilson, NC. I received my Master’s degree in Social Work at Florida State University with an international clinical internship in London, England. I have worked in the mental health field helping others to meet their personal goals and to improve their lives for over 20 years. My education and employment experience allow me to work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues.
I am devoted to being an inclusive and affirming therapist of all identities, in all bodies and all abilities. I believe this takes time, work, dedication, self reflection, training and perseverance in often challenging times. I whole heartedly believe our intersections and differences should be celebrated and honored.
